Chichester is a Roman city in the south of England, in the county of West Sussex.

The city streets have a cross-based layout, inherited from Chichester's Roman past. Leading up to the 'Cross' monument lead the North, South, East and West shopping streets. Chichester has one cathedral, dedicated to Saint Richard. Chichester Cathedral's roof was burnt down and rebuilt in the last century. Chichester is famous for the annual Chichester Festival, in which the Chichester Festival Theatre plays great prominence.
