A sort of college that primarily accepts (and attracts) students from a local area, the local community and offers a limited set of courses and shorter programs. Less than a university.---- A community college, in New York State, at least, is a two -year college that grants an Associates Degree, as opposed to a Bachelors Degree. Graduates of a Community College can apply to a Senior College to obtain a Bachelors Degree. The City University of New York, (CUNY), is composed of a large number of Senior Colleges, as well as, {{Community College]]s.
