A movie studio is a business organization which produces, sells and promotes movies.

The movie industry is rather big. In 1998, there were 1.5 billion movie attendances in the United States. Worldwide gross revenues generated by motion pictures in all territories and media (including music and ancillaries) amounted to over $40 billion.
