Myrinet is a high-speed local area network protocol designed by Myricom. The first generation provided 512 Mbps data rates and later versions supported 1.28 Gbps and 2 Gbps. Myrinet network interface cards include dedicated RISC CPUs to offload network-related processing from the host CPUs.
