Rhine (German: Rhein, Dutch: Rijn) River. At 1320 km (820 miles) it is one of the longest rivers in Europe; over 800 km in Germany make the Rhine the longest river primarily in that country.

The Rhine's origins are in the Swiss Alps. The following countries abut the Rhine:

• Switzerland
• Liechtenstein
• Austria
• France
• Germany
• The Netherlands
