Road Transport/Talk

This page needs help in organization and in origins - certainly dogs and llamas were used to transport goods before horses were introduced to the Americas. Why wouldn't they or similar animals have been used before horses elsewhere? What about (still-existing) drovers trails and Indian trails, etc. -
