Marcus Ulpius Traianus (A.D. 53-117), Roman emperor from 98-117, born in Spain.
Was appointed governor of Upper Germany by Nerva in 97, and adopted by him as his son and heir, setting the pattern for the next several emperors, a period often identified as the Five Good Emperors.
