In humans, a gland on top of each kidney consisting of two parts:

The adrenal medulla (zona glomerulosa) is part of the sympathetic nervous system. It secretes hormones into the blood - adrenaline (epinephrine) and noradrenaline (norepinephrine).

The adrenal cortex (zona fasciculata) is a endocrine gland activated by adrenocorticotrophic hormone sent out from the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland. It secretes hormones, called steroids - glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids and androgens.
