The British Liberal Party is a largely defunct United Kingdom political party. It was one of the two major British political parties until the disastrous elections of 1922, 1923 and 1924, when it was superseded by the Labour Party. It grew out of the 18th and early 19th century Whig Party; the term "Liberal Party" was first used officially in 1868, though it was used colloquially for decades before-hand.

It exists only as a rump after the 1988 merger with the Social Democratic party that created the Liberal Democrats.
