Bursa (formerly known as Brusa) is a city in northwestern Turkey. Formerly a major city located on the westernmost extension of the famous Silk Road and the capital of Ottoman Empire in the 14th and 15th centuries, the city is now famous for its ski resorts (on Uludag), the mausoleums of Ottoman sultans and fertile plain. The city also has a special fame for Turkish people as an important location for Turkish couisine (especially chestnut deserts and a delicious meat dish called iskender kebap).
