Canadian public holiday celebrated on July 1st.

Celebrates the British North America Act, which was passed on July 1, 1867 to create the Canadian federal government. This established Canada as an independent country.

The holiday itself was created in 1879 and was originally called "Dominion Day"; the name was changed to "Canada Day" on October 22, 1982.
