Founded in 1891 by Anthony J. Drexel, noted financier and philanthroper, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Originally the Drexel Institute of Technology, it became a university in 19??.

The university has ten colleges and schools:

  • Information Science and Technology
  • Media Arts and Design
  • School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems

In 19?? Drexel took over administration of MCP Hahnemann University.
