John Rushworth Jellicoe (1859-1935), 1st Earl Jellicoe

British Royal Navy admiral.

Commanded the Grand Fleet at the start of WW I. Commanded the fleet at Jutland (1916), cautiously.

Made first sea lord in November 1916. But his refusal to institute the convoy system lead to his replacement in 1917 by David Beatty.

Governor-general of New Zealand 1920-1924.
