  • 2001 Timothy McVeigh, executed by lethal injection at the U.S. Federal prison in Terra Haute, IN for the murder of 168 people by detonation of a 7000 pound explosive device consisting of ANFO (ammonium nitrate fertilizer and fuel oil), stored in a rented truck parked in front of the Alfred P. Murrah building (the Oklahoma City Courthouse) on April 19, 1995. His was the first execution held by the U.S. Federal Government in more than 38 years.
