Kary Banks Mullis was born on December 28, 1944. Invented polymerase chain reaction in the 1970s, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1993.
Kary Mullis is also among a scientific minority that claims there is no sufficient evidence for HIV causing AIDS.
