The National Broadcasting Company, a US television and radio network founded in 1926 by General Electric, RCA, and Westinghouse. NBC pioneered the concept of network broadcasting in order to provide national advertisers with national reach, and spread entertainment production costs over the maximum possible audience. Early broadcasts were actually transmitted from the New York studios via phone wires provided by ATT then broadcast by local affiliates over the air waves.

NBC is currently owned by General Electric and is based in New York's Rockefeller Center.
