Reinhard Tristan Eugen Heydrich (1904-1942) aka Der Henker (German for the hangman) was a lieutenant in the Nazi German paramilitary corps - the SS led by Heinrich Himmler. Heydrich was one of the main architects of the Holocaust during the first years of World War II.

In May 1942 he was shot by Czech patriots. A few days later the entire male population of the village of Lidice was murdered in retaliation.
