As written by Neil Gaiman, a series of Comic books or Graphic novels. The Sandman comics are a series of stories about concepts and metaphors in human form. The hero, Morpheus is Dream; throughout the story, more and more mythical entities are introduced to the reader, some of them Dream's brothers and sisters, the Endless.

The Sandman Series comprises:

  1. Preludes and Nocturnes
  2. The Doll's House
  3. Dream Country
  4. Season of Mists
  5. A Game Of You
  6. Brief Lives
  7. Fables and Reflections
  8. World's End
  9. The Kindly Ones
  10. The Wake

These are joined by two more books:

  • Midnight Days -- A compilation of older works of Neil Gaiman, one featuring a Sandman story
  • The Dream Hunters -- A sandman story which was inspired by japanese storytelling.

There are also lots of spin-offs, like The Dreaming, a series set in the world of the Sandman, The Books of Magic, and various mini series, all published in D.C. comics' line for mature readers, Vertigo.


Also a popular character in children's stories as one who brings good sleep and dreams by sprinkling magic sand onto the sleeping.
