Syracuse, New York is a city of 147,306 (according to the 2000 census) located in central New York state, more specifically the Finger Lakes region.

Syracuse is home to Syracuse University (founded in 1870) and it's 18,186 students (in 2000).

Some say that Syracuse is a nice place to live because it has some of the advantages of a larger city without some of the disadvantages. Syracuse is within a day's drive of some very big cities like New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, and Montreal.

During winter, it gets very cold, and there is a lot of lake-effect snow.
