Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th (1901-1909) president of the United States
Teddy bears are named after him. His nickname was Teddy, and toy bear manufactures took to naming them after him because Roosevelt, a cowboy-like man from the West, liked to go hunting, and once on a hunting trip he refused to kill a bear cub, thus he got his nickname Teddy.
